This page sets out what ABA therapy costs at AlphaBee, what changes the number, and how families pay for it. The rates below are ours. Other providers in Ontario charge differently, so treat this as one real example rather than a market rate.
At AlphaBee, ABA therapy costs between $80 and $125 an hour. The rate depends on two things: how many hours a week your child does, and where the sessions happen. More hours a week means a lower hourly rate. Centre-based sessions cost less than sessions in your home or at your child's school.
Families fund ABA through the Ontario Autism Program, extended health benefits, private pay, or a mix of these — and in most cases HST is not charged at all.
Rates are per hour. Under 6 hours a week is our Goal Based program. Six or more hours is Comprehensive, or Remote when it is all online.
| Where | Under 6 hrs | 6.5 to 10 hrs | 10.5 to 17.5 hrs | 18+ hrs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| In centre | $125 | $95 | $85 | $80 |
| Your home | Not offered | $105 | $95 | $90 |
| School or daycare | Not offered | $105 | $95 | $90 |
| Online | $100 | $95 | $95 | $95 |
Remote sessions start at age 6 and need a child who can sit at a screen without hands-on support. Goal Based ABA runs in our centres or online only.
Hours. This is the big one. A child doing 18 hours a week in centre pays $80 an hour. The same child doing 5 hours a week pays $125. The rate drops as the weekly commitment goes up, so the gap between a small program and a full one is smaller than the hours alone suggest.
Where. Sessions in our Etobicoke, Scarborough or Hamilton centres are the cheapest. Sessions in your home, at school or in daycare cost $10 an hour more, because a therapist travels to you and works without the centre around them.
Which program. Under 6 hours a week is Goal Based — a short, focused set of goals. Six hours or more is Comprehensive, which works across communication, play, independence and school readiness at the same time.
Prep and goal-setting time. Every session comes with planning time — 15 minutes for an in-person session, 30 minutes for a remote one. It is billed at the same hourly rate as the session itself.
A monthly team meeting. In any month the team meets, there is a charge for it: $25 for Goal Based, $50 for Comprehensive and Remote. Everyone who works with your child attends, and what the team decides applies to all of your child’s sessions, not only the ones that fall on meeting day. Because it is part of the program, it is not optional.
What is not charged. The clinical intake is free. Staff travel to your home, school or daycare is not billed separately — it is built into the rate.
The Ontario Autism Program. OAP funding comes to you, not to us, and you decide which provider to spend it with. We invoice against it.
Privately. Many families pay privately, on its own or alongside OAP funding.
Extended health benefits. Many workplace plans cover some ABA or behavioural therapy. It is worth calling your provider and asking specifically about applied behaviour analysis, because it is not always listed under that name.
In most cases it does not. Services may be HST exempt with the required documentation. Without it, HST is added to your invoice. If you do not have one yet, say so at the consultation — it is a normal thing to sort out, and it is worth sorting out early.
No. You can start ABA before any formal diagnostic assessment. A diagnosis matters for OAP funding and for HST exemption, but it is not needed to begin.
Goal Based ABA runs from a couple of hours a week — in person that is 1.5 to 2 hours a session, up to three days a week. Comprehensive starts at 6.5 hours a week, with sessions of at least three hours, two days a week.
Your rate follows your hours. If your child moves up a band, the hourly rate drops to match. If hours come down, it goes back up. We tell you before that happens, not after.
Book a consultation. A Clinical Supervisor works out the hours your child needs and where the sessions should happen, and gives you the figure.
