What are social skills groups?
Social skills groups give children a chance to practise being with other children — greeting someone, taking turns, joining in, keeping a conversation going — with an adult there to help when it gets hard. They work because the practice happens with real peers, not in a one-to-one room.
AlphaBee runs small Saturday social skills groups for children aged 3 and up in Etobicoke, Scarborough and Hamilton. Your child practises greetings, turn-taking and conversation with peers, with a therapist supporting them. No diagnosis is needed to join.
We’ll Help You Find the Right Fit
Because our groups have overlapping age ranges, it may not be obvious which one is right for your child.
We begin with a short questionnaire about their interests, needs and interactions with other children. From there, we’ll recommend the best fit and talk it through with you before anything is booked.
If a group isn’t the right starting point, we’ll be honest. There may not be a suitable fit right now, or one-to-one services or another pathway may be more appropriate.

Little Buddies
Your child's first experience of a group — with a qualified Instructor Therapist beside them the whole session.
Three hours every Saturday morning. Kids practise greetings, taking turns and playing alongside each other, with fitness activities mixed in to keep the energy up. One-to-one support the whole way through.
A good fit if your child
- Is toilet trained or in diapers — either is fine
- Can follow a simple one-step instruction
- Is comfortable being near other children
- Can move between activities with an adult's help

Fun with Friends
Games, science and crafts — with the social skills built into their everyday activities.
Four hours every Saturday. The social skills are built into the activity rather than taught at a table — kids work on starting conversations, understanding what a friend wants, and learning to work as a team.
A good fit if your child
- Eats and uses the toilet independently
- Asks for what they want in 1–4 word sentences
- Joins in play with some adult support
- Can follow a two-step instruction
- Is comfortable around other children

Operation Cooperation
Conversation practice with peers who are working towards the same goals.
Four hours every Saturday. Conversations are tricky, and they only get easier with practice. Kids work through real back-and-forth discussions, negotiating, compromise, make group decisions and problem solve as a group when a plan changes.
A good fit if your child
- Eats and uses the toilet independently
- Plays with peers with light support
- Can hold a short back-and-forth conversation and wants more practice
- Can follow instructions given to a group
- Is comfortable around other children

- Etobicoke, Scarborough and Hamilton. Groups run at all three locations subject to minimum enrolment.
- No diagnosis needed to join
- You don't need a formal assessment to book a consultation.
- HST
- Prices exclude 13% HST. Services may be HST exempt with a signed letter from a relevant professional verifying diagnosis and recommending ABA therapy.
- Payment
- Full payment by e-transfer secures your spot before the program starts.
- Closures
- AlphaBee is closed for statutory holidays. Fall 2026: the only session affected is October 10.
