Our SLP and ABA teams work together to build communication skills. Speech-language pathologists provide specialized assessment and treatment for speech sounds and language development, with sessions available before, during or after ABA therapy.

Speech and language therapy treats difficulties with communication. It covers speech sounds, understanding language, using language, fluency and voice, and the social side of talking with other people. It also covers children who communicate without speech, through a device, pictures or signs.
Speech-language services are delivered with our partner speech teams. A Speech-Language Pathologist assesses your child and recommends how often sessions should happen.
Your child's therapy is led by a speech-language pathologist (SLP), a registered clinician in Ontario. The SLP completes the assessment, writes your child's plan and reviews progress.
Depending on your child's needs, sessions are delivered either by the SLP directly or by a communicative disorders assistant (CDA) working under the SLP's supervision. CDAs are trained to deliver the plan session by session, and the SLP remains accountable for your child's care.
Speech therapy starts with an assessment by a speech-language pathologist (SLP), followed by regular sessions with the SLP or a supervised communicative disorders assistant (CDA).
An SLP assesses your child's current skills and areas of difficulty. This assessment forms the basis of the plan.

Yes. OAP funding can be used for speech therapy. Many extended health benefit plans also cover it.
Yes. If your child is already in ABA with us, speech therapy can be added at any point. The two teams work together, sharing goals and strategies so your child gets consistent support.
Yes. Speech therapy also covers communicating without speech, through a device, pictures or signs. Our priority is helping your child communicate reliably, and this often supports the development of speech. If your child also receives ABA, the SLP and the ABA team can work together on communication goals.
The length of therapy cannot be predicted at the start. The SLP sets clear goals and reviews them at each progress visit, so you can see how your child is progressing before deciding whether to continue.
